I go by this restaurant at 7:00 a.m. some mornings only to hear the chop chop, chop of the preparation of the daily menu. I can verify that the food is super fresh, fastidiously prepared and served up by a very friendly server. The prices are cheap, the parking (on the Broadway side of the Lakeshore Shopping Center, but it is monitered by a booting company so don't cheat and leave the center or else!) is free. 3715 North Halsted is only 3.5 blocks from Wrigley Field so what better way to enjoy the Cubs, the lakefront, and a great, safe and clean neighborhood than to lunch at Jitlada, walk over to Wrigley Field, or the interesting stores on Halsted, Broadway and Waveland, or go to the park or beach. Near Anshe Emet School as well. I recommend planning your day around Jitlada, order the Lad Nar, I promise you and yours will not regret it. The shopping center has a dry cleaners (Fabricare) if you get your clothes messy.

We eat here all the time. The food is sensational. Go for the food. That being said, the service is moderate to poor. They don't run over to help you, you definitely DO need to flag them down. They are very nice and not ignoring you to be rude, simply not attentive. Probably not a great place to go on a first date, but I'm telling you, everything I've had on that menu is great great great. Try the Jitlada Fried Rice. My favorite thing on the menu (maybe next to the Yellow Curry which is also sensational).

One that is picky about food has to admit that Jitlada not only provides with an excellent service and a nice atmosphere, but the seasoning of Chef Toe (the owner too) is the best in town and, perhaps, in the world. I travel back and forth to New york and tried the best places in Manhattan, the Village, midtown, upper East side, and so far no restaurant can match Toe's recipes. Now, Toe shares her expertise of years ( said she cooks since she was 8 years old in Thailand, picked it from her mother) with her cooks in the kitchen, which by the way she treats like part of her family, so they all can come up with the same seasoning. Perhaps the secret of Jitlada's taste is that every day, Toe runs to specific stores to get fresh made noodles, tofu, and veggies. No MSG, no frozen vegetables, no canned food... An then every meal is made from scratch. I keep telling her the curry sauce she makes needs to be patented. Its the best! No to mention how delicious that Pad Thai is, and my favorite: "Shrimp with broccoli, with fresh sauteed garlic, lite on the oil", I used to order over the phone from The Brown Elephant, a thrift store I used to work for, right next to Jitlada on Halsted and Waveland. I remember Chef Toe cooked my order not only perfect but delicious, surpassing Mee Restaurant on 54 and 9th Ave. in New York. That was 8 years ago, the place was tiny, but comfortable enough. Shrimp or Chicken Basil, Crab Rangoon, Shrimp-Chicken curry fried rice... you pick, they're are celestial. Back in Chicago, I visited Jitlada again. Chef Toe now has a bigger place, but unlike other restaurants that grow and get careless about the quality of their food, Chef Toe still keeps the right seasoning, the right Thai food after taste, and the staff always have a service with a smile. I joke sometimes and tell "the Chef", as I always call her, that when I die "you'll cook Thai food for everybody in my funeral, so they get happy." She smiles. But the truth is that, now that I'm back to Chicago and to Jitlada, I don't want to die, I wanna live forever on Jitlada's Thai food. You should try Jitlada Thai House, don't take my word. But if the food excels the rest of Thai restaurants in Chicago, never hesitate to thank the Chef for her dedication, giving the world a taste of her lifetime. She'll come out and greet you. But then, besides all this review, I believe Chef Toe's secret to get the perfect taste, is that she cooks WITH LOVE. I should shut up, or my mom would get jealous.

I have had the pleasure of eating at Jitlada Thai House a few times now, and each time has been consistently excellent .I love homemade crab rangoon and pat thai is the best I have ever have in Chicago. I would highly recommended.

we wandered over to jitlada thai for an early dinner after a cubs afternoon game. i was with a group of 7, and so we opted to order a couple dishes and share, to try everything out. We shared tom- kha- kai, pad thai (rice noodles), pineapple fried rice, panang curry, shrimp with glass noodles, and had the fried tofu appetizer. i highly recommend each of these items, especially including the tom-kha-kai, pad thai, and panang curry. we ordered everything to be medium-spicy, and it was the perfect amount of spice for me. i look forward to coming back.

After reading the reviews on Menu Pages I decided to give this restaurant a shot. The food was every bit as good as the other reviews had stated. Everything was very fresh, flavorful, and delicious. However, the service was really poor. I had to flag the server down for every single thing. First it was the menus, next silverware, and then water. At the end of my meal and after having sat in front of dirty dishes for ten minutes (not a single plate was cleared) I finally flagged down a server for the bill. Rather than wait for the server to appear again I proceeded to the front counter to pay the bill. I am not usually picky on service but this experience was particularly bad. Keep in mind that the restaurant was not even busy. I will definitely return, but only for takeout!

I used to live in the neighborhood and would get take out from Jitlada a couple of times a week. I really miss this place. The portions are huge and a great value. The food itself is the best Thai I have had in the city, and I'm a Thai junkie. Everything here is excellent. Just be warned, if you say you want your food spicy, they will douse it in red pepper. The interior is small and uninviting, but takeout and delivery are excellent and usually very quick.
