Food here is really good -- burgers and hot dogs are standard but solid, french fries delicious and always crispy, onion rings the same. Everything is super cheap and very delicious. What I want to address, though, are some claims about lack of ambience: the truth is, Hyde Park Gyros has pretty ambience. On the wall there are: -posters of food -fake flowers -a crucifix -anti-truancy poster (don't think it applies to U. of C. students but maybe it should, I think I've come here while skipping class) and plus there used to be a letter from a guy who moved out of state and really missed this place. Plus there's a TV if you want to watch sports or CLTV I guess. Also, the lady is super friendly.

Amazing Value! You can almost always get more than enough food for five dollars + tax. As a student, this is the perfect burger/dog joint. Service has always been really friendly. Order ahead to save time. Check out the chef's special! Also the big baby is insanely cheap for what you get. If I ever need some quick food, HPG is my first option.

I am sorry but one of my biggest pet peeves is a restaurant not accept debit/credit cards. I mean, what year are we living in? Most people carry very little cash any more, if any, and every person with a bank account has a debit card, so get with it! Its annoying to get there and have to use a nearby ATM and pay fees just to get some food. On a positive note, of course the food is great. Chicago hot dog joints are almost always great.

She's right (but i don't like her). EVERYONE GO HERE. Except don't go there to the restaurant because the atmosphere is sucks. Just order delivery.

Cheap. Fast. Greasy. What more can you ask for? I love this place.
