Best food I have ever tasted...
We sat on the second floor and enjoyed every morsel of food. There was a venison stew that was to die for. I will never eat any other kind of stew in my life.

Not your average bar experience...
I've been going to the hopleaf since before they even had a kitchen, and it's been a pleasure to watch this place grow into the somewhat legendary establishment it has become. (Anybody see the review in Beer Advocate?)The menu is frequently updated, and because they are human sometimes the kitchen staff may be slightly off the mark, but it's always worth trying something new. My most recent favorite was the Scotch Egg. As for the beer select]on, I'm actually usually a wine person - but at the hopleaf I always drink beer. Never the same beer twice in a night though, since there are so many new things to try. If you are looking for a $1 can of Old Style, this is not your bar. If you want $0.25 chicken wings, head someplace else. But if you're willing to experiment with things like rabbit, a duck rueben, or the most delicious cashew butter and fig sandwich you'll ever eat, stop by the hopleaf. Yes, you will wait for your table. But plan accordingly and try your hand at the beer menu while you wait. You'll lose track of time before you know it!

Good times!
I have eaten here a handful of times and have never been disappointed by the food. if you don't care about having someone waiting on you, i recommend eating in the bar room. i usually get my food faster and it means i can go up to the bar to order my beer. the hopleaf is always packed and it'll take a while to be seated, but the food is fantastic. there are always some interesting people to watch and you can strike up a conversation w/ almost anyone there. the bar tenders seem kind of surly, but they know what they are talking about when it comes to ordering a beer out of their beer book. this place is great to go to on your own or w/ some friends. and if it's on the menu, try the boar stew, it's one of the best things i've ever eaten!

Great place!
Tried this place 3 times and have had fantastic experiences each time. Mussles are INCREDIBLE (and huge portion), the frites are to die for, and the steak I ordered was perfect. Great selection of beers, and the servers are very happy to help you pick one you would enjoy (if you tell them some beers you like, they will pick a similar style). A great place overall!

Just ok.
If you are a huge beer fan and love sampling exotic beers you've never tried before, then this place is for you. Otherwise....eh. The restaurant is always over-crowded and the food is over-priced. Not much of a selection, food-wise. Also, the accoustics are bad so it's hard to hear even the person sitting right next to you. All-in-all it's not terrible but I wouldn't waste the money!!
