    just like home

We have been going here for years since they first opened. The ownership changed about two years ago. The menu has stayed the same but the chalkboard specials have gotten better. I have taken a lot of friends here for the first time. We never had a bad meal and our friends always want to come back.

    Amazing

First time to Gio's and it was delicious! Their pizza is really good. Service was great! I loved everything about that restaurant. I will definitely be going there again when I visit Chicago. I recommend Gio's for sure.

    So-So

When it first opened I ate here all the time and food was top quality. Since it's changed owners it has gone downhill. The portions of the food have been scaled down and the taste of everything is just more inferior. Their sauce is not good - you want good sauce go to Mangia Fresca or Calabruzzi! I use to get the Mona Lisa Salad or the Tomato Salad all the time. The last few times the portion is only half as much (and they gave me 2 olives - use to get about 8-10). They're cutting quality of food and corners and prices are higher. Chicken Parm use to be good now it's lumpy and their sauce has really changed - very unpleasant. Service is horrible. Have to ask for things 2-3 times before getting - and this is when it's not that crowded. Very disappointed this place has changed. Believe me if you knew what it was like before you would recognize the differences. Also, bathroom is down steep stairs in the basement. This place has gone for a 9 in my book to a 3!

    Not bad

My boyfriend ate with his fingers and I enjoyed watching him eat. The food was great too!

    Excellent Foods

The food is simply the BEST Italian food around. And that's saying A LOT being it's located in an Italian neighborhood. It's a mini Tufano's without the good service.

    Great food.. bad service

Great selection of daily specials at a scaled down price from north side prices. The food is delicious and fresh! The service needs work, though. They don't appear to be too organized. I've had a few bad experiences with waiting a long time before anyone even recognized you were there and also waiters not taking orders properly. Great food. Service needs improvement. They need to hire experienced staff.
