    Just Average

Great Location, but the food has always been mediocre. I live in the immediate neighborhood, so I have been going here occasionally for years. It is convenient.

    A Meal Served Cold

Dear Garcia's Management- Thank you for your generous discount after a poor experience. First of, I wanted say, I spent about $2 in parking for about 2 hours right in the back of the restaurant. We walked in and met up with our other friends and was sat immediately. We were all very hungry. After about 10 minutes at looking at the menu, I flagged down a server and ordered our drinks (5 horchatas), an appetizer, and our main entrees. All is well after this point and after conversating for quite a bit, we noticed people who were sitting around us were getting their drinks and food (some parties 3 and more actually said down after our party). That's when I looked at the time and noticed we've been waiting a good 45-50 minutes. At this point, I knew something was seriously wrong. I flagged our server down and asked politely for our drinks. The server actually asked, "what drinks did you order?" Note, at this point we still have not gotten our appetizer. After another good 10 minutes, our drinks arrived. My buddy finally got fed up and approached the manager. He seemed understanding and tried to resolve the situation immediately. However, our server, was not professional, nor apoloegitic. She agued that everyone must wait and what we ordered was "special" and took longer to make. Come on man! (no tomatoes and extra beans on the burritos). At this point, it already surpassed an hour and finally our appetizer showed up cold and burnt. It was almost like its been sitting there for while. 3 minutes after the appetizer, the food came out and it was also cold. Come on Guys, I use to love Garcia's and now I've to share this experience with all my friends and family. To the management, if a situation like this happens, deal with it yourself instead of leaving it up to the server.

Been going there for 20 years

I have been going to Garcia's on Lincoln since they opened in early 1991. The burritos and tacos are still the same, as is the salsa verde and the pico de gallo., so the recipe is in tact. I must say they make among the best burritos in the city. The best burritos/ tacos I believe are at Taqueria la Zacatecena on the souhwest corner of California and Nelson. However, Garcias comes a very close second. The only drawback is the price. $9.24 for a steak burrito? Did I break a window? The prices for these have risen steadily through the years, that's for sure. They were only $3.75 when they first opened in 1991. I understand inflation, but come on now.....

Good food, but prices have gone up

I have lived in Lincoln Square for 13 years now. Garcia's has always been a favorite. However, I ordered two taco dinners and a side tonight and was shocked when I heard my total was $23.00. Garcia's used to be great Mexican food at a really reasonable price. Maybe the remodel forced them to raise their prices? Still a great place, just not a great value anymore.

Great Food at a Great Price!

I have been going to Garcia's for years! They have recently remodeled so it's not as cramped as it use to be. The food is absolutely amazing. I don't think I have had anything from there that I wouldn't recommend. Their carne asada is alwasy so tender, not chewy and fatty like some other places. My kids love their milkshakes so I finally had one the other day and it was so good! This place has become our favorite polace to go to as a family for dinner. Great Food at a Great Price!!

The to go service was not the best. However the food is great. I recommend the Garcia's Special.
