A Pleasant Evening
This past weekend my parents came to town to visit. They wanted to go to a nice upscale restaurant in Chicago. I has heard nothing, but great things about Everest, so I decided to take them there. They were very impressed from our initial greeting to the leaving of the restaurant. Our service was excellent, and it made me feel good to know that my parents were treated with the up most respect. We were all very impressed with our food. I ordered the Sauteed New York Steak it was cooked just how I asked. I am very picky when it comes to steaks, but I was pleased. I would recommend Everest to anyone who wants to enjoy great food in a welcoming respectful atmosphere.

I love Everest!
My husband and I had dinner at Everest last night and it was absolutely fantastic! I had the Filet of Wild Sturgeon Wrapped and Roasted in Cured Ham with Marinated Cabbage. My husband had the Mullard Duck Breast - Alsace Style - with Braised Fennel Confit and Cardamom. It was unforgettable and the wine pairings were divine. In this day and age, it is refreshing to know that true fine dining is still well and alive with Chef Joho at the helm. They even arranged to have us picked up and dropped off in a town car!

Disappointed
Atmosphere - I think the dining room needs a makeover. I was expecting Tony Montana to walk in given the tiger pattern carpet and brass railing all around. The view was nice...if we would have gotten a window table that I requested when I made the reservation. I think we also reduced the average age of the people in Everest. It was a much older crowd - maybe that is why I am the only review, b/c everyone else that goes there doesn't know how to use a computer... Food - We got the tasting menu and my wife asked to substitue one item that she doesn't like. We were given a look and I thought that was strange considering they offered a regular menu with a number of choices. At a place like this if you ask them to do something, it shouldn't be an issue, or at the very least you shouldn't feel like it was an issue. The wine pairings were very good. The food was good, but not extrodinary. The best was desert. I think that for the money, there are better places.
