I've had better...
So some co-workers and myself ordered from El Tapatio for lunch. We didn't have a menu, so we just called and ordered regular Taqueria fare. To be quite honest, I thought the food was just ok. With that being said, the price that we paid for a couple of taco dinners and a burrito were downright astronomical! $10 for 3 tacos with rice and beans and $9 for a burrito is incredibly steep! I would understand if the food was innovatively prepared or made with interesting ingredients...however, it was like any taco or burrito that you would get anywhere in Chicago. I will say that the restaurant was quaint and busy, so perhaps i'll have to give it another chance. For the time being, I will say that I was definately disappointed and could think of about 5 other mexican joints on the Northside that I would recommend before El Tapatio.

I love this place
El Tapatio is the best Mexican food on the Northside. The food is yummy, the service is excellent, and the margaritas are strong! The food and drinks are a great value and I love the street side patio opened during the summer.

Best Mexican Food EVER!!
El Tapatio is so awesome! They have the absolute best Spanish rice. I strongly recommend the Breakfast Burrito even at dinner! All other Breakfast Burritos do not COMPARE! The Rolls Royce Margarita is the best deal in town. And they're gigantic! The Filet de Res X X is also excellent! If you think that it is all tacos and burritos you are WRONG!!!

WOW!
you have got to drink the mexican long island "cazuelas" out of the 32 ounce clay bowls. They are amazing. Just take a cab cause the will mess you up.

Yummy!
The food is always excellent and consistent. Their salsa is always fresh and spicy. It is never watered down like some of the other places. I recommend the chicken ajijje dish and the margaritas.

Best Mexican in the city!
Please check out El Tapatio, you will not regret it. The food is delicious and the margaritas are HUGE (and tasty!). I guess my only criticism would be the sangria; they make it from a mix, rather than fresh. Everything else is outstanding!
