My Wife and I have been eating at El Gordos for many years. My brother told me about this place and we have been coming here ever since. We have actually gone to other Mexican restaurants and have found the food not as good as El Gordo. Service has always been great and the Owners have always made us feel at home. The Margarita Gold is the way to go and everythng on the menu is very good! I have even used their banquet room for as many as 35 family members. I tell anyone that'll listen that this is the spot!

I have been going there since they opened in 1993 or 1994 and have never been dissatisfied. I used to live in the neighborhood but moved out over 10 years now, but I still manage to visit at least once a month or so. The food is excellent, very tasty and I Love It. I tell all my freinds about it. The only draw back is that they no longer offer New Years Specials. The Carne Asada was 5.00 I think they should do that once in awhile.

For being a neighborhood Mexican greasy spoon, it's good food. You won't find the trendy fluf food you'd expect in the "trendy" neighborhoods. So, if you're expecting to find something new, you won't. But you'll get some good tasting Mexican grub.

My husband and i had dinner there with a friend and his wife and it was GOOOOD. We had a combination platter that included shrimp, steak, fish and chicken. Everything was well cooked and hot. The Margaritas there are also very good. I'm going back tonight hopefully to try some enchiladas suizas.

I have yet to eat in, but carryout has been flawless. I just moved to the area and I'm wearing this place out. I keep going back to burritos because they're so dang good. However, the tacos are fat and generous w/meat and the chicken flautas are also tasty. Salsa is really good and fresh tasting (green and red). It's a struggle to finish sometimes because of the big portions....so split an order with a friend and get a smaller side!

I have never been disappointed with El Gordo on Belmont Avenue. the Burritos are ginormous and wonderful. and the beans are the best I've ever had. We've had carne asada and the mixed grill almost every time. out-of-towners that I bring there rave about it. It's not much on atmosphere, but the food is worth it. Large Portions and the price is right!

Anyone that goes her knows the service isn't great at all, but the food does make up for it. The salsa that they serve with the chips is amazing & the burritos are almost as big as the plate they serve them on. Try everything on the menu, you won't be disappointed.
