tasty
I live near El Cid II, the food is pretty good. They have a sweet salsa that comes with the free chips that I love. I am a vegetarian and they have a good selection to choose from and the back patio is awesome in the summer. Not the best place in the world, but definitely my favorite restaurant in Logan Square.

Better off Elsewhere
So, I used to live right by this place and, after a few attempts to love it (the patio!), I gave up. The food is bland and mediocre, it's pricier than any other Mexican place I've been to, the salsa sucks, and they serve watered-down drinks. The servers are friendly, sure, and the patio almost makes it worth going, but there are soooo many better places.

Great Atmosphere, Not Great Food
We were pretty surprised to stumble upon El Cid the other night. The outdoor back patio/courtyard is a great environment despite a little rain. The service is average - nothing special, but not bad. The food was decent, well priced with good margaritas. We thought we had found a hidden gem, unfortunately the fish didn't agree with me.

Great food ! Great Atmosphere !
Great place to have some great food with friends. The atmosphere is casual and the service is good too! They did recently open the upstairs that has a upscale feel to it. Nice place!

Pretty awesome
We came here on a friends recommendation as the first place to eat in our new neighbourhood. They recommended the fish tacos to start - pretty good. They could do with more fish in them, but what was there was awesome (and they were so cheap you forgave it pretty easily). The chicken stew was really good - loads of it and cooked really well - really homemade. Food is fantastic, atmosphere cool. Lots of people eating by themselves or bringing their kids - signs of a pretty relaxed eating place. It's not BYOB but the Margharitas are AMAZING. Be careful mind - they knock your socks off!! We ate here in the winter but I hear in the summer the patio is fab. Try it - it is really worth it, and I'm pretty hard to please.

Logan square needs more like this...
I like how this place has come into it's own, with a great outdoor patio, inexpensive food and excellent margaritas. Now that Lula has gone $$$ Logan Square needs more cool affordable places. Highly recommended!

Slow service!
While the food and margaritas are great (especially since Abril next door is closed), the service is so slow that it is almost not worth it.
