a freakin blast!
My family went there for dinner and had a riot. Our waiter was Vegas and he was perfect. At one point the waiters got up and danced on the counter. I highly recommend this unique dining experience.

"Live Long and Grumpy" at Ed Debevic's
Went to Debevic's for a 2nd time over spring break. Had just as much fun as we did 2 years ago. Good burger, onion rings and chocolate/banana shake. Ed's was not crowded so we had "Biscuits" (our waiter) entertainment almost exclusively...He was very entertaining and we had a blast. 33 years ago I saw a great basketball game between the bulls and the kansas city kings...I couldn't remember what arena they played at but I knew it wasn't the United Center where the Bulls and Blackhawks now play. Anyway, I asked several people the name of the old arena and "Biscuits" was the only person who knew the answer, Chicago Stadium. The most important thing about Ed Debevic's is that you just plain have a lot of fun we had several great laughs, including when Biscuits called my son Poindexter. If you have time, carefully look around at the memorabillia it's funny and interesting and you don't find stuff like this in many restaurants.

Great atmosphere, solid diner food
This is a diner, not a place serving gourmet kobe beef burgers. The food is still very good diner food though. The milkshakes, fries, burgers, and chili are all solid eats and at a good value. The real kicker is the atmosphere. Where else are you going to get yelled by cross-dressing, rollerskating waiters/waitresses? It makes a great experience for anyone visiting, although I would go anytime.

Unpleasant experience
What happened to this place? It USED to be good. Was there recently and was sent to the worst table, asked for another one, was sent to a table that hadn't been set up next to the bus station. Food was not good. Burgers were burnt and old meat. French fries were coated with something unsavory. Didn't even get a straw with my drink nor did the waiter check on us. Someone else brought us our food. Service was slow. Our check was delivered before we were done eating and were not questioned when half the food was left whether everything was okay and/or we wanted a doggy bag. I wouldn't have believed it had I not experienced myself.

You must go
This is a totally unique experience (well it is for an English visitor anyway). Everything about it is great fun and whatever you do don't answer back and do as you're told!!!
