Excellente!
I loved this little place my sister brought me to! What a find! Service, ambiance, everything was fabulous. We enjoyed the pine nut crusted chicken with garlic mashed potatos. Yum! The crab cake appetizers, mouth wateringly delicious! For dessert Leche Cake and Chocolate Chimichangas. Magnifique! We brought our own wine - uncorked and saved on the fee. Highly recommend Dorado!

Three Strikes, You're Out
We've been going to this place since it opened and it started off as a hidden jem, but is now intolerable. Tonight, for example, my fish was raw and had to be sent back (cold and rubbery in the middle), the waitress botched the wine opening and we had cork in the wine (but of course they still charged us a corking fee!), and THEY HAD NO HEAT! That's right. They had two space heaters out, none by us, and my pregnant wife froze the whole time. Their heater was broken, but they didn't mention that when we made the reservation two hours before going. Instead they waited until we ordered our appetizer, and not so much as a, "We're giving 20% off tonight for the trouble." When they first opened, it was an underdog to route for. Now you even have to pay for the chips and salsa that used to be free. The owner/chef also relies heavily on his friendly staff, but has no regard or persona with his customers, despite being in full view. This was our once a month $80 dinner out splurge, but tonight was the last straw. We will not be returning.

Great Upscale Mexican!
Or Mexican/French fusion, whatever it is, they do it well at Dorado. Went with a large group, and despite their small dining area they handled our group and several others very well. BYOB is awesome, and they even accommodated our homemade margaritas with appropriate glasses and ice! The food was fantastic. Seafood is where they really seem to shine, and everyone loved their food. Some found their portions a bit smaller than expected (not your typical enormous Mexican platters), but most of us were more than stuffed by the end. I will certainly be back!

Mexican with a Flare
The chef Luis Perez takes Mexican food to new heights. We had the Halibut & Steak dinners, both were fantastic ! The whole menu looks so good, have to go back soon.

Amazing!
Incredible, unique Mexican food with a French twist. The beef tenderloin special was the best steak I've had in Chicago, and the crab-crusted salmon is amazing. Service is professional, and better than I've had in much more expensive resturaunts. Make sure to leave room for the desserts!
