Best Chinese Delivery in Hyde Park
Until we discovered DeRice, Nicky's had been our go-to for Chinese delivery in Hyde Park. DeRice is better food, just as fast delivery, and the people are nicer.

Good Sushi!!
De Rice is one of those neighborhood Chinese food restaurants. that also sells sushi. I'll be honest I didn't have high hopes for this joint. The fried rice is dismal. Soggy sticky rice grains, flavorless meat soggy veggies certainly not worth your money. The rice paper they use to wrap the spring rolls in are sticky thick and unappetizing. But believe me when I tell you the sushi is amazing as the rice sucks. The sushi is very fresh, not fishy, tightly packed. The Dragon Roll with the Tempera shrimp is definitely one of the best dragon rolls I've ever had. Something about that extra crunchy goodness surrounding the shrimp really makes this roll sing!! the Rainbow Roll isn't anything to sneeze at either. The fresh fruit smoothies are a great addition to the fresh sushi. I will definitely be going back for the Smoothies and Sushi...

Fresh,fresh,fresh
I love this place. I have never had Chinese food this fresh, not even in Chinatown. I always like to judge restaurants by the quality of their seafood. The seafood is extremely fresh every time Ive ordered. EVERYTHING is cooked to order and always done when they say it will be done. I dont know what kind of mad person would prefer Wok n Roll (which is gross by the way) over this place.

Just Duckie!
IDK who would actually prefer Wok and Roll over this place, but you are crazy! I am a professional chef downtown ( degreed and everything). Compared to anything around, they have the best Asian food in Hyde Park. I was especially delighted to see that they serve duck dishes, as I have found most neighborhood Chinese restaurants do not. C'mon people, peking duck take out at a moments' notice! Sushi too, it's not the best I've had, but definitely better than any other hde park sushi! I would and have recommended them.

Terrible
I ordered from here on a monday and the food arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes after I ordered it. I was disgusted by the sushi and the pork noodles were overly greasy. I would never order from Derice again and I would never recommend it to anyone. Do NOT order from here.

Eh.
I ordered two menu items from here - Orange slice flavored beef and sesame chicken. I would not recommend the first. The beef is some sort of weird rubbery thing, covered in something that at one time was probably fried coating. The chicken was allright. They delivery guy couldn't for the life of him find out where I was, and I eventually had to meet him somewhere in a street corner. All in all, I would recommend wok n' roll over this place. Better delivery service, and slightly better food. cost is about the same.

Awesome food for the price
Okay guys, obviously a place like this is not where you're going to get the best Chinese food in the world. You have to go to China for that, or at least to London. HOWEVER, in terms of Americanized Chinese food at low low prices, De Rice is pretty amazing. There was a time during college when I would literally order from De Rice five times a week (can't cook if my life depended on it) because they were so dependably good. The delivery time to the University of Chicago campus is usually less than 30 minutes, and I've even had the food come in TEN MINUTES. For delivery, that is almost unheard of. The food is also pretty good. I wouldn't recommend getting the Sesame Chicken because it's a little too sweet, but they have probably the best Mushu Pork I've ever had in the States. Also, the prices are amazing. Their "small" size for the entrees are usually less than six bucks and could definitely feed two people, especially if you get an appetizer too. For cheap, busy college students or anyone who wants a great Chinese meal fast, De Rice is the place to go in Hyde Park
