Mom and Pop Restauratnt for Middle Eastern

Great food. I work nearby so this is my favorite place to get lunch delivery / pick up dinner onthe way home from work. Sometimes only the owner or 2 family members in the restaurant- so service and delivery may suffer. Falafel sandwiches+ hummus, babaganoush, taboleh salad always perfect. Though some family recipe differences do make the menu differ slightly from other middle eastern restaurants. You can see them start chopping the fresh ingredients as soon as you order. Can pick up 15 min after I call ahead but expect to wait 15-20 min if you order there. Delivery may take an hour- likely they don't have a dedicated delivery person-In fact when I called today, he asked if I could pick up for my small order b/c the owner was the only one there. Authentic and friendly if you take the time to make small talk when they are slow; but I think cultural differences and the fact that they are busy prepping ingredients constantly, first impression is not friendly when you eat in. More respectfully withdrawn and dedicated to the task of making the food delicious. Even the "small orders" are generous enough for 2-3 people and can't beat the price!

    Love this food

small but noble effort on Italian Taylor Street. the lentil and rice dish with fried onions is addictive. the chicken schwarma to die for, but the cauliflower and potato sandwich (whoda thunk?) is my favorite-such complex flavors. great meat eater and vegetarian offerings!. service has been slow, but I think they finally have wait staff who are more in tune to a less than 60 minute lunch.

    Good food well priced

They have delicious and well spiced dishes - chicken tikka and the roasted vegetable kebob deserving special mention. The roasted cauliflower is killer. You get iceberg in salads, but I suppose a mixed green salad isn't indiginous cuisine to the middle east. Try some of their fresh, authentic and delcious fare and you won't be dissapointed. Service is spotty, but sometimes it's the owner/cook himself shlepping dishes.

The food is to die for

I've been to Couscous three times. The food is outstanding and obviously cooked to order. Many options for regular diners as well as vegetarians. The chicken shawerma is delicious, the salads are great. Service is "leisurely," though, and you might have to get up to get the attention of your server. The dining room is tiny and the window tables a bit cramped--but great for watching the people on Taylor Street. It's great to have an affordable change of pace from the typical little Italy neighborhood fare for lunch and dinner.

    Some delicious things

The chicken tikka, shish kebobs, falafel, hummos and various sandwiches are awesome. Lentil soup pretty good as well. Upon straying into uncharted territories of the tangine and stews I was not pleased, but I never tried the dish in question before or after so I didn't know what I was getting into. Overall: quick, cheap & delicious. And why would you expect some microgreens or frisee at a mediteranean restaurant? Fella, that is absurd.

    Disappointed

Read other positive reviews, but this place just didn't measure up to the middle eastern food that I am used to. The first item I tried to order, they were out of, and told be they were out of a number of menu items. Was expecting fresh veggies and light pleasing dishes. All lettuce was iceberg. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for.

    Best catering deal in town!

The food is phenomenal and so is the price. Its full of variety, nature, aroma, health and love! You cannot get a better deal in town for catering. The guy gives me enough food for 75 people when I order for 40 and charges me less than $5 per person! I let him decide on the menu and he never disappoints me. The variety pleases all, vegetarian and non-vegetarian alike. We get food from Couscous for almost all of our catering needs, second in line for our business is Lao Sze Chuan, on Archer Ave in Chinatown (try their Mapo Dofu, there isnt one like theirs in the world!)
