Recently, I went to Coast with a small group of friends. We waited twice as long as they told us, and there was a loud, drunk group of Cubs fans practically sitting in our laps while we waited. I was a little shocked they didn't ask their group to leave because they were bothering everyone waiting for a table. Once seated, we could never get our server's attention when we needed anything. My boyfriend asked 2 different people for a spoon for his miso soup, finally he drank it like tea. The food was ok, but as slow as the service!!! What was supposed to be a nice quick bite before we went out turned into a complete debacle.

I love and frequent many different places in chicago for sushi, but coast has simply been disappointing. I have gone a couple times before and received simply mediocre food and service, but my most recent trip has provided a complete let down. I came with a larger group for a special occasion dinner, and even though we had reservations (for about 10 at 930pm on a wed night, which doesnt seem like it would be a problem), it still took about 30 mins to get seated. After being seated our waitress, though very nice, provided disappointing service. Everyones sushi rolls were on large plates together with no explanation as to which rolls were which, additionally, anything ordered after the initial round took a very long time- one simple order toke over 30 minutes actually had to be wrapped up to go because it took so long. The rolls, while decently good, were far too overpriced for the amount of food that was actually received, and that was a general agreement across the board. save your money and go to another byob sushi joint in chicago (or even a non-byob- you may spend the same amount of money for better food AND booze) !

Well-decorated, "trendy" atmosphere. We found the staff to be way more uppity than they needed to be. Food was good, but definitely not worth the price and attitude. 50,000 random rules and regulations on the menu about beverages, gratuities, and excess drama. ("we're not responsible for temperature changes" being the most unusal) We've had better everything for a lot cheaper elsewhere. Meh.

I ordered for pick up and was surprised at the size of my Sashimi portions--they were huge!--each piece was like 1 1/2 times the size of normal sushi portions, so I was pretty excited over the value...I was also excited to see that I recieved some Toro in my Sashimi combination--rare, due to the cost$$$. Unfortunately, the next day I suffered from the "complimentary" Toro--it was evidently bad...which explains why it was thrown in for free... Too bad...this place had so much potential... I will stick to Mirai.

I eat Sushi at least once a week, so I decided to try something new. Web ordering was flawless and deliver speedy. Sushi was decent, but nothing exceptional. I had the spider roll, which only came with 4 pieces and the crab was only mediocre. I would say that on the whole, the experience was about a 3/5. There are better sushi values in the BT/WP area. Try AKI or Bob San (howeer, neither deliver, which is what caused me to give Coast a shot in the first place)

I have only had the priviledge of delivery (phone) and website delivery, so my above score for Atmosphere is a more rounded out figure from the other 3 scores. The Website ordering is outstanding, and somehow managed to show up at my door 28 minutes after ordering. Given I ordered at 520pm I was pretty impressed. The food is great, ad while somewhat Americanized, the Signature Maki Rolls are great and fun to try. Also, highly suggest the Jalapeno Miso soup. Give this place a shot. Been 4 times, never a disappointment.
