a nice corner Italian joint
I've been going to the Club Lago for years. Its a family owned business serving up a good drink with hearty simple Italian fare, for three generations. The food is traditional pasta, steaks, veal, chicken & shrimp, sort of frozen in the 60's, but very very tasty. There's great tomato and meat sauce, there is even a cannoli if you have sweet tooth. I've never been served a meal I didn't enjoy. The bar scene is a mix of River North hipsters, the occasional First Friday crowd and a bunch of long time regulars who all get treated like family. Its not a sports bar, except when the Sox, Hawks, Bears or Bulls are winning.

Old School Classic
Best Spaghetti in Town One would think Spaghetti would be an easy thing to serve. New restaurants want to make it over the top with fancy ingredients and other restaurants just do not make it correctly. Club Lago, on the other hand, still makes Spaghetti the old fashion way. It is clearly the best I have had in Chicago. It is made with care and without the bells and whistles that other restaurants use.
