Not Good!
It was like going to a used car lot and the snake oil salesmen is trying to sell you the best lemon on the lot! I'm not joking for such a exclusive place and expensive extremely over rated! There is no need for a speach from table to table at what they do to the beef before you eat it. By the time the waiter was done we all wanted to adopt the cows not eat them. He even had the nerve to comment to us after a $ 600.00 bill. I thought we were out dining and listening to piano and enjoying a Fine dining experience. I would only go back if they stop the sales speech at the beginning of every meal. It is just wrong and they only have business from the people that don't have to listen to this like locals. It's just wrong! And the steak was not that great I've had better at others for less money and my lobster smelled, which we all know not good!

Great steaks!
My wife, and I never miss a visit to the Chop House when we're in Chicago. Service during our experience was excellent. We attribute this to consistency. Year, after year, we recognize some of the same waiter staff, and they've got their act down to a science. It seems to us, that this is'nt just an act. They care about providing good, and friendly service. However, good service will only go so far if the food is not up to par, and the steaks are fantastic at the Chop House. So far, they're batting 100%. (We've tried to duplicate excellent steaks at home, like the Chop House serves, but never come anywhere near it.) I would recommend a visit there to anyone that happens to find themselves in Chicago.

Pretty Good
I ate here very recently and found the staff to be very good, my party was allowed to sit as long as we wanted and were treated excellently by the waiting staff. The menu is extensive and some of the dinner specials were quite tempting but i opted not to try as the rest of the group were sticking to mains. I have only one gripe about this restaurant and its a tiny one, my steak was overdone. It was not cooked beyond recognition but i asked for medium and in my opinion it was medium well and another memeber of the party had a similar complaint. this may have been a one off but i STRONGLY recommend you ask for the steak medium rare to ensure a perfectly cooked peice of meat. New york strip was still and excellent cut and very tender. I would return to this but i hear mortons is fractionally better

My opinion
We were seated next to the kitchen when every table was open because we were not dressed correctly. If you haven't a suit and tie or if you do have piercings/tatttoos this is probably not the place to go for friendly service. The food was excellent, however. I had fillet minion with lobster tail. Never had such amazing food in my life.

First on Your List
No trip to Chicago from my home in Alabama would be complete without my visiting the Chop House! Excellent value - consider that you get salad and side item included in your price! The steaks are fabulous -- have eaten at other Chicago steakhouses, but this one stands out above the rest for quality, atmosphere, and value!

Worth Going Out of Your Way
I've eaten there several times and never had less then a great meal. I was very poor company the first time I had the Chop House cut Prime Rib because I didn't talk to anyone until I was finished eating. If you're anywhere nearby--say Phoenix or Philadelphia--and want a "great dining experience", the Chicago Chop House is worth going out of your way.
