Hidden Gem
Chavas Tacos makes the best Mexican food I've had in the area. I'm from the Southwest, and Chicago has consistently disappointed me with its mediocre Mexican food. Chavas is the exception. The food is made from fresh ingredients, freshly made behind the counter. No, it is not fancy. You order at the counter and sit in dinky 50's styled chairs. But the food is SO GOOD. My favorite is their barbacoa. It is not hot-spicy, but it is super-tender and flavorful. Their chicken meat is (usually) succulent, juicy, and flavorful. Their breakfast burritos are pretty good also. So don't waste your time and money at other places. I'd even suggest skipping the sit-down places. Run, do not walk, to Chavas Tacos and get hooked.

This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and its so cheap! Definitely a great deal!

Great Food!
I must agree, CHAVAS does indeed have some of the BEST Authentic Mexican food in the city!! I am fortunate to work so close by this awesome spot. I also frequent CHAVAS second location near Harlem and North Ave.

The best Mexican food in the city! The Chava's special is amazing, the chicken quasadillas are delicious and the milanesa dinner is rediculous, among everything else. A must stop for anyone who love the mexican! Food Junkie
