Big City Italian
Wow! This is the place to eat Italian. We have enjoyed dinner here three times now and have never been disappointed! Big menu and great food every time. The servers are very helpful and willing to do just about anything to satisfy your culinary needs. Don't miss Carmines. Try the lamb chops.

Always a Great meal
I love this place been going here for years. The food is always delicious and freash. Like Homemade. service is friendly and helpfull. Love the Sausage and peppers, fresh breads and awesome entrees and specials. although it can get crowed at times dont let that distract you from one of Chicagos Best Italian Resturaunts. Chao

One of the very best restaurants in Chicago
This is an outstanding restaurant which is a must if you value the quality of food, the atmosphere, service, hospitality of the owners/management, value, and location. The portions are very large, almost family-style. The owners/management are extremely friendly. We come to this restaurant every time we come to Chicago. Please support the best!

as good as I remembered
Returned to Chicago after two years and the family headed straight to Carmines. Just as I said in my review two years ago, the food is yummy and the service is superb. We ate in the garden, perfect for a delightfully breezy Chicago evening. Three of us shared the chopped salad which our waiter graciously divided up for us before serving it. The ingredients are so fresh and varied--fresh greens, beets, corn, hearts of palm... The chicken marsala is to die for--better than any I have had in NY or NJ and the accompanying pasta was served al dente with a fresh marinara sauce that makes you want to lick the plate. Drinks are fresh (no acidic mixes). We all ordered mojitos-cold and refreshing for a summer day. I returned two days later to order a chopped salad for takeout. The hostess was so kind and gracious, offering me a cold glass of water while I waited. We enjoyed the salad later that evening. Dressing, bread, oil, and parmesan were all carefully packed for my husband and son to enjoy post-Lollapalooza. Will return here again when we go back to Chicago.

Amazing food
I recently ate at Carmine's. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the beef brasato and couldn't have been happier. Well accept for the fact that a waiter spilled red wine all down the back of my shirt. We were told the manager would come and speak to us. It took 25 minutes for someone to come and acknowledge what had happened. We did get a free drink out of it but I am out one shirt. I would recommend this place for their food. However, the service was below satisfactory. Even before the red wine incident we were not happy with the service we received. The food does make up for the lack luster wait staff at Carmine's.

The best thing I ever ate!
The Beef Brasato on the dinner menu is to die for! It is rich, creamy, velvetly and a huge portion. Every time we head to the Chicago area, I have to head the car in that direction. I never remember the address or the street, but somehow I navigate us there every time!

Great lunch
This is the second year that we came to Chicago and had lunch here. We ate outside both times (last year along the sidewalk and this year on the side of the restaurant under the awning), and the service and food are wonderful. I especially enjoyed the chicken marsala, pasta, and chopped salad. We had an excellent red wine with our meal also. We will return next year and hope we can again have a nice day to eat outside.
