Great Food!
I'm a Policeman. I've had the pleasure of eating lunch here when ever possible... and NO We/I do not get a discount as some would think as they walk in and see a Policeman eating. I eat here cause the food is good and a lot healthier than most of the food we subject ourselves to due to the short time we're allowed to have lunch. Aside from that, there were times where I'd have to respond to a call and having to rush out of there in a jiffy, and then having to return to finish, end up taking it to go, or worst case scenario, pay for food I never got to eat. But really? The food is amazing here. Their soups? Outstanding, and would compete with any upscale, high-end restaurants downtown.

this pizza stinks
The only thing I've had from Florian was a Chicago-Style pizza. It was crappy tasting and skimpy. Lou Malnati's and Pizza Capri make pizza that I feel taste delicious and are not skimpy.

Made a Northeast Snob a Believer
Do yourself a favor, order some deep dish pizza from Caffe Florian. I've never liked Chicago Style in the past (New York all the way), apparently because I'd never had it from here. The crust (regular style, can't speak to the whole wheat) is delicious! The flavor is wonderful and the seasoning in the tomato sauce is up there (not quite the best of the best, but damned good). I went with the Florian Spinach and it was awesome. I'm looking forward to sampling their other pies. And delivery was very fast (at least on this Monday night, can't speak to the weekend).

My favorite place for yummy soup!
Cafe Florian has delicious soup (different choices ea. day of the week) and the waitstaff is superb. Like the other reviewer, I also prefer going to Florian over the Medici b/c it's less crowded and the service is (in my humble opinion) better.

Hands down best place in HP
Food is amazing!!! Try the spinach, sausage, & pesto thin crust pizza and I promise that you will not be disappointed. Delivery is always great too-very prompt! And it is BYOB also, so it definitely kicks Medici's ass...

Kick's Med's Ass
Florian is an awesome little restaurant. It's kind of similar to the way-overrated Medici further down the street, only not overpriced, with better service, and with a bigger variety of foods. I love going there and they have everything: burgers (veggie, turkey, and regular), pizza (even cheeseless ones), great sandwiches, and cheap delicious pastas - 5 or 6 bucks for a huge portion. They also have drinks that you usually only find in coffeeshops, like creative lattes. The only thing I've ever gotten and not liked there was the bruschetta, which was a lazy fat-sliced french-bread with chopped tomatoes heaped on top. Seriously, though, Florian is hands-down one of the best restaurants in Hyde Park.

The Aboslute Best Chicago Pizza!
I love Chicago Pizza, and have encountered all types, from stuffed, to thin. I have ordered here twice, and now I am absolutely in love with their pizza. Not too much red sauce, like Giardonnas, not too thick, but not too thin. Just enough spices. Outstanding! Just enough cheese and toppings. Spices were also exceptional. This is my new favorite. I cannot imagine going anywhere else when I get that pizza craving again. Kudo's Capri!! Job well don.
