Cafe Ciao is one of our local restaurants and we eat there frequently. More often lately we've been ordering take out because the service is extremely slow most days. The staff is very friendly however and the owner is sweet. The food is always very good. One frustration is that there are certain menu items that they basically never have, like the ravioli. They might as well take it off the menu. Overall I would highly recommend if you're looking for a laid back casual dinner or lunch. Never go there if you're in a hurry because you'll just leave mad. Bruchetta is great.

this cafe is half a block from our place....love julie, the owner. i always get the rigatoni with chicken instead of sausage...its amazing! im moving away from chicago and sad i won't see julie or go to cafe ciao anymore.

If you like down home authentic Italian food - this is a great place. The tortellini and the spicy itlian sausage pasta are great dishes!! Bruchetta is also great with a hint of balsamic that gives it a great taste. But WOW the service is slow. They just need more staff. Good outside seating right Madison - inside is quiet. Not a noisy atmosphere. If you have some time - eat there. If not get take out!

This place really put me at ease. It has an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity without trying too hard. It basically just emits a good vibe. As a bonus, the pasta I tried was delicious.

Food is really good, atmosphere good. Service needs improvement. Weekend enertainment I caught was very good. I think the duo was called Left and Right or vice versa. Best to visit when entertainment is present.
