No Pate on the Classic
The convenience of this spot is great, but it fails to hold a candle to "real" bahn mi places further north. The pickled salad is not crunchy enough, not enough cilantro, not enough jalapeno, and (worst of all) I have NEVER received any pate on their version of the Vietnamese classic pate/headcheese bahn mi. Their fillings are insipid compared to those at Ba Le or Nhu Lan. I guess I shouldn't bee too surprised by Amer-asianess in Wicker Park, though. That being said, I'd rather eat one of these than Potbelly or Jimmy John's any day.

Excellent Banh Mi
So comforting to know that this kind of spot exists right near me. I went in today to do some work and eat a good sandwich and Bon Bon was perfect. It's a laid-back cafe with chill music, funky decor and tasty eats. I've only had one sandwich, the "Classic" banh mi, and I was impressed. Chicago needs to step up its Vietnamese sandwich game... We need more places like Bon Bon.
