    Great food, too noisy

I probably experienced the best french fries I've ever eaten in my life in this place. The food was matchless; the wine and beer selections spot-on fabulous. The prices were reasonable for the food quality. The "tapas" style menu was a great way to taste a lot of great food without getting too full. But we left without even considering staying for dessert-- why? The noise. I was out with 5 other colleagues, we were trying to talk, and we just couldn't hear each other. It was, literally, too loud to think -- we had trouble figuring out the tip because the noise was so distracting. We were sittiing in the back area of the bar; I'm not sure the front would have been very much better. Good for: friends you see all the time with whom you want to share good food and wine; bad for: romance, catching up with friends from out of town, discussion of anything at a volume lower than a shriek.

Beer Wine Booze & Bacon Heaven

Yep, this place just makes me happy. The atmosphere is super cool (great date spot) and the offerings are even better. The beer list is amazing. I've seen gripes about it not being cheap, but that's because the selections are simply amazing and very high quality (no bud light here). And the food is stunning - really, the stuff I've had (grilled sturgeon, ale braised rabbit on pasta, slab bacon on riesling-poached pears) is fine dining level for bistro prices. Put 4 green beens and a slice of lemon next to their dishes and you'd pay $25-30 for the same dish they only charge $12-14 for! It's crazy, but true. And they have the best frites in the city. Oh - I forgot the wine - well, it's the same wine buyer as at Webster's, so that says it all: great stuff and more great prices. Don't miss this place!
