I thought the Basil Leaf was a beautiful restaurant. It's details in decor and architecture inside are really special. The wide selection of food to order including soups, apps, entrees, meats, and wines is great and the bread and oil given are quite tasty. The food is not very authentic Italian, but it is good tasting none the less. Our waitress wasn't very warm and friendly and seemed to get mad over us wanting another slice of bread, which I thought was odd. The place has the overall aura of being a very upscale American restaurant trying really hard to be authentically Italian and down-to-earth, which is very incongruous. The prices are a bit high to go every week but the food is good and you can ignore the server if you like!

Delicious food, great service, and has the atmosphere of a local neighborhood cafe (exactly what it is)...nothing fancy, but comfortable and charming. Outdoor seating in the summer is nice. It's never too crowded - I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table, even on a weekend. Try the penne w/broccoli and roasted garlic and the caesar salad. Dessert selection can be hit or miss, wine prices are very reasonable. Great spot!!

The caesar salad was great, One of the better ones I've had. I had the salmon with pasta and it was very good. My husband had the chicken and sausage which was delicious as well. There is a nice wine selection. The wait staff was prompt and courteous. I thought it was reasonably priced since the portions are generous. They don't take reservations which is a minus.
