Babylon

First off....I am not the easiest to accommodate when it comes to food....but Babylon did it. My first time in there, I had no complaints...which is pretty uncommon coming from me. I am a real food critic. I highly recommend the falafel. The sandwich is big and very filling. I always eat half and save the other half for dinner. When going out to eat, I have had my fair share of bad service. When I ask a servers opinion on a dish I expect an honest answer...not just "oh it's good." When I asked my waitress what she recommended...she answered honestly and really took the time to accommodate my needs instead of just a quick fly-by conversation.

I am Pakistani, so i feel like i know a bit about this type of food. I think some of the dishes lack in spices but are still very good, over all everything i have ever had is pretty good. The service lacks sometimes as this place is super busy whenever i go there, but i noticed they hired another girl last week so hopefully that helps. The main girl that works there is very friendly and does her best i think but she is only one person. The food comes out quick and just what you ordered! The prices can't be beat! basic but cute atmosphere. and it's byob, so you can have dinner for 2 for under $20 with appetizers. I hope they expand soon as they have enough business for it.

Babylon serves up some tasty middle eastern dishes, and has some misses. For appetizers, the fava bean dish is warm, satisfying, and has a lovely roasted/baked tasted. Chickpea salad has finally chopped vegetables and a very light dressing; some may wish to add a little more vinegar and spice to kick it up a notch. The tabbouleh is very fresh, parsely crisp and flavorful each of the 5+ times I ordered it. On the entrees: hits: Babylon chicken. Fantastic. Best kabob in the land so far imho. This is a chicken kabob marinated in a roasted red pepper sauce, grilled with visible charcoal grill marks and served with long-grain rice. Everyone loves it, and middle-easterns too. The ground beef kabob is done in a persian style, large flat skewer in the middle which creates a nice airy fold. Similar to noona kabob up in Albany Park. Misses: I think the shwarma is a miss. It is greasy, somewhat hard. The shwarma at Pita Inn (skokie, wheeling, etc) seems to be several cuts higher. Dessert: adequate baklava Service: friendly, but often overwhelmed during busy times. don't be bashful to get up and politely go to the counter to ask for what you need. Very accomodating wait staff- when they get a moment. value: bargain bargain bargain. Feed you, yours, and then some on the cheap with great eats.

We love love love the food here - we use it more for take out - though you would think with the amount we order from here the people would at least smile when we came in - nope - all business there.

Stopped in last Friday to my surprise it was Falafel Friday. The falafel was only 99 cents.I had to ask her if that was a sandwich?She just started the special that Friday. I got a falafel and a small hummus for around five bucks.You can't get good food like this on the McDonald's dollar menu. It was nice and so was the service.

The food at this restaurant is delicious. Unfortunately the staff knows little about good customer service, and seems to care less. I only order carryout now, and I always show up 15 minutes after they tell me it will be ready, so I don't have to wait.
