Disappointing
On a recent weekend in Chicago I made this place my first food stop after checking in to my hotel. My first Italian beef sandwich. It was ok, but essentially its an over cooked soggy sandwich. Which was pretty much what I was expecting, but still it was disappointing. The hot pepper mix perked it up somewhat but was expecting more out of something I had read and heard was some kind of Chicago institution.

Please DONT open one where I live
This place is too good! If they opened up where I live (out of state) I would pack the lbs. on :) The dipped beef is extrodinary excellent Dont change a thing Al

Al's is no. 1!!
I was just in Chicago and ate at Al's no 1. Italian Beef for the second time it was just as good as it was 2 years ago. My wife and son and our friends were at that overrated, overpriced, Rainforest Cafe 2 blocks away I sprinted away to Al's and ate like a king the best hot italian beef in Chicago. When I jogged back to Rainforest my gang still did not have a table!! I'm coming back in August for the Tigers and White Sox and I'll definitely eat at Al's again. The french fries are delicious too in fact, I took some back in my pocket to give to my starving 11 year old son who happens to be a french fry mayven and he love them!! Thanks, Al.

Just Visiting
Just visiting after moving away and I found Al's online. What great food. This is what I was looking for, true Chicago fast food at it's best. This is the stuff I don't get to enjoy where I am in Michigan. WAY better then any Coney Island could ever hope to be. I wish I could have Al's open up a place by my home. Anyway, if you want a true Chicago taste, call Al's. You will NOT be disappointed. The Italian Beef, MMMM. The Chicago Hot Dogs, MMMM, and of course the "skin on" fries. Absolutely the best. Beats those high end places that serve the same bland over priced food you can get anywhere in the country. Your in Chicago, taste the food that you can only get here.

Location is everything!
This is the place to go in chicago if you are in the mood for a filling, original, all American/ italian style quick meal. Al's beef makes it right.. is perfcet for a late snack. and if your coming from the clubs around the block- this is the palce to go afterwards.

Best beef! True Chicago!
Al's is my favorite beef in Chicago! The food is a bit pricier than say portillo's or Mr. Beef, but if you are looking for a good, Chicago style lunch, this is as good as it gets. Their fresh cut cheese fries are also terrific. If you get the chance, NEVER pass up Al's!

Nice for a quick lunch
Small dining area but good service the cost of the food was a little more than expected but the portions were good. Loved the fries, beef was a little bland. NO RESTROOM, what a pitfall.
