At first I thought that the food was going to be ehh but I was way wrong!! I had the best tortas I have EVER had. This one clearly beats El Famous Burrito. Everything was fresh. I had la torta de carne asada. The meat wasn't dry and their Agua De Horchata was sweet. It was worth the train ride all the way from Morse!!

Some of the best and most authentic Mexican food I've ever had...at any price. This is based on travels to many places both in Chicago and around several US cities with large Mexican poulations.

Yes, Allende is like every other taqueria in Chicago. They serve the same predictable menu, atmosphere, and style. What, might you ask, makes me give this place such high marks? Well, Allende may be one in the same, but they do it damn well! I still hold my own in saying that I believe Allende to be one of the best Taquerias in Chicago. Sure, i'm somewhat bias, considering that I used to practically live above the restaurant during my college days, and consequently, frequented the joint every other day. But, in turn, i've tasted through the entire menu. They do Taqueria food beautifully. The food itself is really fresh and especially delicious. Dining in, you get the chips and salsa, and mexican polka music...what else could you ask for? I believe their chicken tacos to be some of the best...they are huge and come with cheese and sour cream (no extra charge). As well, the burritos are giant and could feed a college kid for a couple of days. The Huevos y chorizo are delicious and really help you through a nasty hangover. Word to the wise, as with most of Lincoln Park, don't be caught dead there Thursday through Saturday after 1am, unless you don't mind standing belly to belly with a bunch of drunk frat boys, who may or may not try to pick a fight with you. A great lunch or weekday evening spot. It will always have a special place in my heart.
