Love this place!
Very, very good and wonderfully priced. I've been to plenty of sushi places all over Chicago (from the most expensive to the scariest of scary) and this place is just right for me. I've never had a problem with service, or the food. And those commenting on the fish being frozen: Unless there are unknown schools of tuna lurking in Lake Michigan most of the fish in Chicago have been previously frozen - no matter where you get it from.

do not go there
if you want to enjoy real sushi and fresh sashimi, this is not the place you are looking for.

Good food, but expect to wait for it
After reading the reviews here, I thought I'd give Aki Sushi a try. Overall the food was very good, but the service was poor. Many items were unavailable but they didn't tell us until after we decided what to order. Then everything was just sooo slow. We made the bad decision of sticking around for dessert and first they brought the wrong dessert, then brought the right one but it was literally frozen solid. When I complianed and didn't eat it, they didn't even offer to take it off the bill....I had to ask. Bottom line, if you have a lot of patience this place is fine. But otherwise, just don't go.

Great Friendly Well Priced Sushi
We eat sushi twice a month...far too often for Murai sushi (though we love that, too!). The service at Aki Sushi was shabby in the beginning, but apparently they read the reviews and fixed it, b/c now it's top-notch. The people are sooo friendly. The sushi's very good. The cocktails are awesome. The atmosphere is lovely, along with outdoor seating! : ) Gotta love it.

I adore this place with all my heart!!
I have been coming here for a few years now. And have tried several different sushi spots in Chicago. Even if people think it is shadowed by Murai, across the street Murai is just a pertentious, high priced yupp spot. If that's your deal, please stay away from here. No one wants you anyway. Affordable, creative, DELICIOUS rolls. Paul, the owner and main sushi chef is the cooest guy in the world. His wife is great and hospitable. And their servers are just pleasant as can be. The atmosphere is great. Kitchy asian. Again if you want snobby, and stagnant waiters and a modern uppity atmosphere stay across the street. If you wanna unwind with some saki and have an excellent, affordable meal...GO HERE!!

Good bang for your buck
You can get good sushi here for and even better. Their rolls are quite good. I come here almost once a week because it is such a good value. It is always possible to get a seat. Don't come here when you are in a rush because the service isn't super quick. It is just a nice place to unwind and enjoy a tasty, well-priced meal.

Go anywhere else BUT HERE!!!
There are SO many sushi places in Chicago, this is one you can miss. The food is okay, but the fish is frozen, so it is not the freshest. The service is the slowest I have had in a long time. I waited 45 minutes for a raw appetizer and then my meal didn't come for another hour. The waitress had no idea what was taking so long, and kept appologising. The value for what we had was alright, but it took so long to get our food that it wasn't worth the wait. The atmosphere is boring and they play really bad music. There is a way nicer, faster, and better atmosphere sushi place right across the street,
