fresh cheap food! bring cash!
we have been going to this restaurant for about 4 years, ever since we moved into the neighborhood. the food is always fresh and definitely worth the price (pretty cheap!). the place is best for takeout or delivery it's not decorated for eating in, although there are a few tables and chairs. also, they don't accept cards, so you have to have cash. overall, a good neighborhood chinese restaurant.

Small town atmoshere
My boyfriend and I just moved to the Irving Park area and passed the restaurant a few times before stopping one evening on our way home. As atmosphere goes, while the decor is not downtown Chicago the friendly, helpful staff and small town flavor more than make up for any decorative lacking. Jean, the cashier, was wonderfully informative, helpful with menu suggestions and all in all a delight in a world of lackluster customer service. The food portions were huge and extremely well prepared although next time I will ask for more white rice to go since the food portions are so huge you quickly run out of rice. I did notice that people eating in were served dinner style with so much food I couldn't help but comment on seeing 'a to go box in the ladies near future'! All in all I would highly recommend the establishment as a low key delightful dining experience with exceptional food and advise you to be sure to ask 'Jean' what she recommends as she is a total boon to the restaurant and a big reason my boyfriend and I will return in person and not rely solely on its delivery service!

#1 chop suey is #1
#1 Chop suey rules it has the perfect food. The atmosphere is'nt fancy or nothing but it gives you a sense of old school not popularized by all the new electronics. The food will dance on your tastebuds. It is located in the perfect spot because there is a conveniant store right next to it a ymca across the street an orphanage also across the street and for all you coffie lovers there will be a new dunking donuts. the service is good because they dont bother you and if they do its not like they are making fun of you. the food the is very cheap and yet you still get 5 tons of it and it still taste great i suggest anyone who appreciates good food for less to go there.

Best Chinese in Chicago
This place is one of those classic hole in the walls with awesome food. Its not so much a place to dine at, but rather to carry out or have delivered. The food isn't completely greasy like many Chinese places are, its always fresh, hot and the portion sizes are huge. The woman who owns the place with her husband is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, she always has a smile on her face and will even offer you a cold beverage on a hot summers day. As far as Chinese goes, if you're in the Portage Park area make sure to stop by - you can't go wrong with the lunch or dinner specials - they're cheap and you get enough food to feed two people.

#1 Chop Suey
Great employees, good food, but if you're looking for a classy place, then I suggest to go somewhere else. The neighborhood is one of the best, Old Irving Park, but the restaurant is on busy Irving Pk. Rd. on a commercial street, nothing like downtown, Old Town, Lincoln Park or anything.

Go with the specials
For a walk in, pick up restaurant it is great. We order all the time and its always 10 minutes. the portions on the specials are ridicules amounts. HUGE! Well worth it.
